Our club is looking for two students to sponsor in Rotary’s Short Term Youth Exchange Program for the summer of 2023. Deadline for applications to North Star Youth Exchange is March 1, 2023. The sooner applications are received the greater the chance the student is assigned to their country of choice.
This exchange involves the matching of a student, between the ages of 15-17, with a student from another country. Typically, age, interests and gender are factors that are considered when making a match. The local student travels to the host country at the beginning of the summer for a one month stay with their host brother or sister and their family. The host brother or sister then comes to stay with the local family for a month sometime later in the summer. The students have a two-month exchange (one month abroad and one month hosting).
The club will cover the $500 application fee. Parents are responsible for costs associated with their child’s airfare, passport fees, insurance, spending money, and hosting the child from another country. Since The Rotary Foundation does not fund this program, there are no restrictions on the child’s relationship to a Rotarian. Applications can be found at North Star Youth Exchange (yehub.net).
