John Sanger from Arden Hills spoke to us today regarding an effort he has been leading entitled "Telecommuter Resources". This was a very big picture presentation focused on the vision of better integrating our rural and urban communities to restore the social fabric that is currently quite broken in this country. As we know, our national elections have become a tale of a split America - urban vs. rural. Tele-Commuter Resources (TCR) was founded as a 501(c)3 non-profit organization with a mission of creating a rural renaissance- with a focus on revitalizing Small Town America. The name references one key area that was especially needed when the effort was started in 1992: Better broad-band access in rural areas so that telecommuting was more possible. Technology has certainly come a long way but now businesses are shifting back to pre-pandemic norms of requiring workers to be physically present at job locations.
