Today's speaker was Luke Yilvsaker, who founded the "Strong Brave Hopeful" Foundation after his five year old son was diagnosed with a disabling version of Epilepsy. Luke and his wife live in Central Minnesota and have three children. In 2023, their lives changed forever. Their healthy 5.5-year-old middle child, Griffin, suddenly began experiencing epileptic seizures. His journey led to a diagnosis of Ring 20 Chromosome Syndrome, a rare and complex condition characterized by uncontrolled, unpredictable epileptic seizures. Their mission now with this foundation is to uplift families through education, reimbursement, and other forms of support. One of their outreach programs is to provide a HOPE Box to patients. This is a care package designed to bring comfort, courage, and hope to infants, children, and teens aged newborn-18 years facing EEGs, procedures, hospital stays, or new and ongoing diagnoses. Each box is filled with age-appropriate comfort items. They also sponsor several fund-raising activities, including a golf classic in order to raise funds for Epilepsy research.
